Ian Garry announces his signing with the UFC

Ian Garry, formerly of Team KF Martial Arts in Swords, announced his signing to premier MMA promotion The UFC this week.

Never a man to be out of the spotlight too long, the news comes just weeks after he dominated Jack Grant to take the vacant Welterweight Title at Cage Warriors 125 in June.

Garry had parted ways with him long-time gym Team KF just 10 days before the event, causing all sorts of speculation within the community about where the young star is at mentally.

Some, including Cage Warriors commentators, went as far to say that he was Mike Perry-ing it by showing up to fight with no corner, but rather his girlfriend and manager Layla Anna Lee.

The fighter, from Portmarnock, North County Dublin, makes it to the UFC at 23 years of age – a lot of time to re-settle with a team and build his way up in the promotion.

Some believe Ian is perfectly capable of stepping up at this time, and others believe he should have defended the belt a few more times. Regardless – it won’t be long until we find out.

From us here at Fightpals HQ, we wish the best of luck to Ian in this new stage in his life.
