Irish Fighter Dean Barry signed to the UFC on Tuesday within hours of the birth of his son Jayce.
With a record of just 3-1 in mixed martial arts, Barry made the transition over to MMA from kickboxing barely four years ago, where he was a multiple-time world champion. He trains out of SBG Charlestown under Irish MMA legend Owen Roddy.
Due to Covid-19 traveling restrictions, it may be a while before he makes his first step into the octagon, but if these recent signings say anything, it’s that the UFC’s interest in Irish and Northern Irish Fighters certainly has reignited this year.
Another prospect touted to sign to the UFC soon is Ian garry, who has been making waves throughout his pro career with UK/IE promotion Cage Warriors.
It’s an exciting time for Irish and Northern Irish MMA, we see more news like this to come.
