Clan Wars MMA have been sharing teasers about the highly anticipated Clan Wars 38 event, hinting that plans are underway for the Belfast promotion to return following many months of inaction due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting restrictions on close-contact sports.
The UFC and the USA have been the global drivers in the return to televised sports. But as Florida and Nevada cases of Covid-19 continue to skyrocket, Ireland and Northern Ireland have been quite successful in lowering the rate of infection and new cases have steadied out. Gyms in Ireland are expected to reopen on the 20th of July, allowing transmission does not increase between now and then. As for Northern Ireland, gyms are to be reopened in “phase 4”, but there was no date to accompany this statement so when that might be is unclear at this time.
Clan Wars 37 took place on the 29th of February, followed on the 7th of March by Cage Conflict 3, which would end up being the final event before the lock-down. On Thursday the 12th of March from 6pm, all outdoor gatherings of over 500 people, and indoor gatherings of over 100 were cancelled until the 29th of March. Cage Legacy 13 was to take place on Saturday the 14th of March and was subsequently cancelled. The 29th of March has long been and gone.
